Donald Trump was born in New York on the 14th of June 1946 to proud parents Fred and Mary Trump. Even at a young age, Trump was very aggressive and assertive. He mentions in 'The art of the deal' that he gave his music teacher a black eye because he didn't know anything about music!
At the age of 13, Donald Trump was sent to New York Military Academy in upsate New York by his father. Trump, although not happy at first, admits that he learned a lot about disciple and controlling agression. In his seniour year at the academy, Trump was appointed a captain of the cadets.
At first, Donald wanted to attend film school at the University of Southern California, but in the end he decided that real estate was where his heart lay. In 1964, Trump applied to the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania and was accepted in. Trump studied hard, but as soon as he had finished the degree, he moved back home and began working full time with his father in the family business. Trump will tell anyone that listens that (among other things) his father taught him a lot of what he knows about business and dealing with people. His father commented on his son's business success by stating that "everything he seems to touch turns to gold".
After gaining the necessary business skills in real estate from his father, Donald Trump moved into the Manhattan real estate scene. He went on to acquire some of the most exclusive properties in the city. Trump Casino, Trump International Hotel, Trump Marina Hotel and Casino, Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort and Trump Tower are among his prestigious portfolio of real estate properties.
In the early 90's, Trump found himself in financial problems when the market took a turn for the worse. To his credit, it took him less than a decade to rise back to the top.
Trump has also written many books, he started with 'The Art of the Deal', then went on to 'Surviving at the Top', The Art of the Comeback, The America We Deserve, How to Get Rich and Think Like a Billionaire.
In 2004, Donald Trump starred in the hit reality TV series The Apprentice, where a selection of candidates compete against each other to become Donald Trump's apprentice. The series was widely successful and watched by millions of people. During the series, Donald would dismiss the contestants with the phrase "you're fired", which has now become his trademark phrase.
Trump is a self confident and extravagant businessman that has made himself instantly recognizable wherever he goes.
